Top 5 Mother-Daughter Activities Not to Miss at WDW

WDW is full of so many experiences and activities, with something to please literally everyone. And, as the mother of a little girl, I think I got the best deal, because there are so many awesome things I can experience with my little girl!

Mothers and daughters have a special bond. Not to say that there isn’t the same bond between a mother and son or a father and daughter/son. And, while we love our family, and no matter where one travels, it can become a little overwhelming to spend all of your time together. On a long family vacation, it’s not a bad idea to have a special day with each of your children, allowing the focus to solely be on them and what interests them and makes them happy.

Below are five of the most amazing experiences that you cannot miss during that special mother daughter day while at WDW:

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a wonderful experience to allow fairy God mother’s in training to transform your little princess into a real live princess! The Boutique is located within the Magic Kingdom near Cinderella Castle, as well as having a much larger location at Disney Springs.

The boutique caters to princesses and princes ages 3 through 12 years. While they only offer one small package for the little guys, they have a number of options for your princess. With prices ranging from around $60 – $200, plus additional enhancements or accessories, your little one will be ready to take over for Cinderella at the Castle, or Queen Elsa over in Epcot! And, just in case you visit with your little Prince, they have a package available as well!

For additional information on pricing and reservations, please visit the site, or by calling  (407) 939-7895.

Spa Day at Senses – Grand Floridian

Senses Day Spa at Grand Floridian is a full service spa, sure to relax anyone! They offer many services for adults, including manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, and more. While they only offer mani/pedi options for children ages 4 to 12, it’s a wonderful experience to have with your little princess.

Senses also offers a number of additional enhancements to compliment your services. A sure crowd pleaser for any princess is the Disney nail art designs that can be added to any manicure.

For more information on pricing and scheduling, visit the site, or by calling 407-939-7727.

Afternoon Tea at Garden View Tea Room

This is NOT your ordinary tea party with stuffed animals, nor is it for the faint of heart. Afternoon Tea at The Grand Floridian is a full on experience for any mother-daughter duo.

They offer a number of teas from around the World, including a Mrs. Potts blend for the little ladies. While enjoying tea, there are a number of pastries, scones, sandwiches and other sweets and treats to nibble on.

Afternoon Tea is offered a number of times throughout the week, allowing ease of scheduling with other reservations or Fast Passes you might have :

2:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday

12:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Tuesday and Thursday

This activity can be scheduled and reservations can be made online up to 180 days in advance of your trip.

Pricing for Afternoon Tea ranges from $35-$60 per person. Unfortunately, the dining plan is not accepted for this event.

**For those wanting to plan an extra special tea time with their little one, The Grand Floridian also offers the Perfectly Princess Tea Party, which is held throughout the week, with the exception of Tuesday and Saturday. Pricing for this special experience starts around $340 for one adult and one child ages 3-9. For more information on this special event, please visit the WDW site directly.

Pick a Pearl

Pick a Pearl is offered at a few locations around WDW, but the best location, by far, is at the Japan Pavilion in Epcot World Showcase. The cast members at this location are mostly college students on an exchange program from Japan. They interact with each customer, telling stories as you choose your oyster and they pry it open to help you find your treasure.

Pricing is fairly cheap, with the purchase price coming in at under $20 per oyster. The more significant pricing can arise from the housing, or cages, for your pearl. They offer a number of options for purchase such as earring backs, necklace and bracelet cages, and other designs. To help curb some of the cost, people suggest purchasing cages, holders, and earring stakes from an online retailer.

No matter what housing you choose to exhibit your pearl, you are guaranteed to get a treasure, and story to last a life time!

Have a meal at Cinderella’s Round Table

Having a meal at Cinderella’s Round Table inside Cinderella Castle is a most magical experience for any mother-daughter day, or for the whole family!

While a wonderful treat and experience during the day, a dinner is truly magical, especially when dining during the nightly stage show and fireworks – from personal experience, you can watch the fireworks from inside but honestly is not loud – thank goodness!

Dining at Cinderella Castle isn’t your typical character meal. Upon entering, you experience a special greeting and photo opportunity with none other than Cinderella! When the time has come for you to be seated, your family will be given a royal announcement, perfect for your little princess. During the course of your meal, various princesses including Ariel, Jasmine, Aurora, and Snow White will stop by for a visit and pictures.

Pricing for this Character experience begins at $35 for children and up to $60+ for adults. Dining plans are accepted for this meal, but does cost 2 meals.

Additionally, reservations for this experience can be made up to 180 days in advance of your trip, and I suggest making them as soon as you can, as they DO go quick!

Emma meeting her idol, Cinderella! What a perfect ending to a perfect Birthday!
Emma meeting her idol, Cinderella! What a perfect ending to a perfect Birthday!

Obviously, this is only a small sampling of all of the wonderful mother-daughter activities that WDW has to offer. If the above doesn’t peak your interest, there is also shopping at Disney Springs, Carriage Rides, Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party @ Magic Kingdom, or even take in the Wild Africa Trek @ Animal Kingdom.

What are your favorite activities for you and your little ones? Do you have a princess or prince in training? Or, possibly an outdoorsy dare devil type? Either way, WDW offers something for everyone!

Personally, I cannot wait to get back to WDW to experience some of the above with my little girl!
