When planning a vacation to WDW, besides determining how many days worth of tickets you want for you and your family, you must also decide if you want single day tickets (Magic Your Way), or if you want multi-park tickets (Park Hopper). There are some things to consider when looking into each option.
The pricing between the MYW and PH tickets isn’t significant, but it is there. And can become costly depending on the number of people in your party and how long you intend to stay at WDW.
Currently, pricing for park tickets is as follows:
|Regular Peak Season Ticket Pricing – No Blackout Dates|
|1-Day Magic Kingdom||$124||$118|
|1-Day Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom||$114||$108|
|1-Day Park Hopper||$164||$158|
|Regular Season Ticket Pricing – Blackout Dates apply|
|1-Day Magic Kingdom||$110||$104|
|1-Day Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom||$102||$96|
|1-Day Park Hopper||$160||$154|
|Value Season Ticket Pricing – Blackout Dates apply|
|1-Day Magic Kingdom||$105||$99|
|1-Day Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom||$97||$91|
|1-Day Park Hopper||$155||$149|
**Please Note, pricing is subject to change at any time. AND, the more you play, the cheaper the purchase price. For example, if you buy a 3 MYW or PH ticket, the cost is cheaper than if you purchase a 1 day ticket.**
Trip and Attraction Desires
Do you plan on spending a majority of your time at the parks, or are you planning lots of activities at your Resort or off property? Keep in mind, there are other nearby parks and beaches, as well as a multitude of activities at each WDW Resort and various shows at Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney). There are also other off-site activities such as golf, mini golf, etc. This should be considered as your plans WILL help you determine the type of ticket you want to purchase.
Length of Trip
How long do you intend to vacation at WDW? Is it a long weekend? One week? Two weeks? The length of your trip may help in determining if you want a MYW or PH ticket for each day. For those with a shorter trip, a PH might be the best option for you and your family, as you can ‘cram’ a lot more of the parks into your days. If you are there for an extended period of time, a regular MYW ticket might work better for your needs!
Ultimately, the choice IS yours, and depends on what YOU want. I have read blogs and articles that say if you are traveling with small children, don’t get the Park Hopper. Personally, we don’t agree with that. We always go with the PH because it keeps OUR options open. Also, the 2 trips taken with our daughter (March 2015 and December 2015), we also traveled with my in-laws, so we were able to get some separate time to go do rides they don’t enjoy and that our daughter couldn’t go on. We spend most days ‘hopping’ between 2 or 3 parks, depending on dining reservations, fast passes, parades, shows, etc. And, we also get a PH even when vacationing for 10 days. As I said, in the end, the choice IS yours and what works best for you and your family.
And, regardless of your decision, you will still get a lot of THIS:
