While this has nothing to do with planning a trip to WDW, I want to take a moment to focus on what others might be experiencing along with us. As the title says, I am ‘Living in a Disney Jr World.’ And, before I anger anyone, let me point out that I am talking about MY world; MY house. Our HUGE television is on Disney Jr probably 75% of the times that the television is actually on. And, when it is not, our very own little princess is demanding to put on HER shows.
I live in a world full of Sofia, Doc McStuffins, Jake and The Neverland Pirates, Kate & Mim Mim, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Goldie & Bear and, the newest addition to the Disney family – Elena of Avalor (Did I miss anyone?!). And, when not WATCHING these shows, we are talking about them, or singing songs, or getting a ‘check up’….for the 10th time that day.
But, all in all, in the end, I would not change it for one single second. And, while
from time to time, it can be annoying, I am happy and overjoyed that my child is getting to learn from some of the most amazing characters ever created. Emma is learning about kindness and compassion; that we are all different, yet somehow the same. These shows are teaching her values while teaching her numbers, letters, colors and all of the other academics needed at her young age. And, let’s be honest – I LOVE that our daughter is learning that it is OK to want to grow up and be something as amazing as a doctor, as a girl! She is learning that blended families and adoption are not taboo topics; that this is the norm in this day and age.
Disney’s current campaign is titled “Dream Big, Princess!” And, they are holding up their end of the bargain very well if I do say so myself. We now have a princess who truly believes that she can do, and be, anything she wants to be. If that’s the result we get from living in a Disney Jr World, then so be it!
Is your world inundated with Disney characters, shows, and movies? What are the fan favorites in your home?!
